President's Report
Happy 2023!
As we begin the new year, it is time to reflect on the challenges and success from last year. We had many wonderful speakers during our 2022 monthly luncheons. We had returning speakers and new speakers to address a variety of HR topics. These presentations were approved for SHRM and HRCI credit. Additionally, our lunch meetings are catered and offer a variety of delicious lunches.
This past year we saw “quiet quitting” and “The Great Resignation.” As HR professionals, it is our job to overcome these challenges and develop strategies to engage, recruit and retain employees. This year proved just how important employee engagement and supportive leadership is to retaining employees. Employee health and wellness remains a high priority to prevent burnout and maintain balance in their lives.
As we begin this year, we must continue to listen to employees’ needs to retain top talent. Remote or hybrid work spaces will continue to grow during 2023. As HR professionals, we must foster a culture of trust. A culture of trust will also help employees with their sense of well-being. Trusting employees to decide where, when and how work gets done increases productivity and retention. We must continue to embrace new technologies and solutions for 2023.
I would like to thank all of our Board members for all their hard work and dedication. We have one new addition to our Board this year, please welcome our new Webmaster, Christine Benitez, who comes to us from the Sumter County Property Appraiser’s Office, where she is the HR & Finance Coordinator. Rona Mohrenne, our 2022 College Relations Chair will be leaving us after many years of volunteer service in a variety of roles. Thank you Rona, and thank you to all of our Board Members who volunteered their time for another year.
We are looking forward to our 31st Annual Human Resource, Leadership and Business Management Conference on June 21, 2023. Please join us for our focus on "Let’s Get Along,” preparations are underway. We are working on an exciting lineup of speakers and presentations, and vendor opportunities. Stay tuned for more details about our conference, and be sure to reserve the date on your calendar!
